the honeymooners

Today is the day I can finally be excited about our honeymoon in the Bahamas. With us being the procrastiators that we are, we only booked this 8 night trip the Wednesday before the wedding. There were so many resorts to choose from and we just could NOT decide so we put it off another week, and another week, and another week until there were no more weeks to put it off.
We are going to Sandals Emerald Bay Resort on the island of Great Exuma, Bahamas.

A big part of the procrastination was the question of where on earth we were going to go. After many small arguments and brainstorming sessions we came up with a couple options:

a.)   get a cabin at Glacier National Park and hike and explore for a week.
b.)   get a cabin at Acadia National Park in Maine and hike and explore for a week
c.)   drive to Thunder Bay, get on a float plane, fly to the fishing camp he usually goes to, live for 5 or so days on whatever we brought with us and fish, fish, fish... fly back to Thunder Bay , rent a car, and drive to Montreal (Chris was the brainchild on most of this one)
d.)   all inclusive resort somewhere beautiful

In the end we obviously decided on an all inclusive because, as Chris put it, "We won't have any time to fight about maps, or directions, or which resturaunt to stop at." He had a good point. The picture above shows you what the outside of our villa looks like :)

Bon Voyage!

  1. I was lucky enough to take 2 vacations this year. the first was up to Maine & Canada. In Maine we spent time in Bay Harbor & Acadia Nat'l Park. I was just lovely there! I enjoyed it so much! The coasts there are so beautiful with all the rocks, etc. Very different from your typical beach. We also drove up to Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia, which I was sooo in love with! I recommend it whole heartily!
I also spent a week in Riviera Maya at an all inclusive resort with my husband. I also loved this trip immensely! The all inclusive part is fantastic! the beach, the palm trees, iguanas and monkeys. We also visited the ruins of Coba.
It's hard to decide which was my favorite trip sight-wise. My husband didn't go to Maine so I was mostly missing him and wishing he could see everything so that made it hard to fully appreciate the trip.
I've rambled enough, if you ever go to Maine let me know and I'll tell you specific favorites! :)

  2. Oh my gosh! I am so jealous of your amazing travels! I would love nothing more than to go to Acadia Nat'l Park. The hubs and I love anything outdoorsy and hiking and camping, etc. I've also wanted to see the rocky coast of Maine for so long. The furthest in that direction I've ever been in NYC so it didn't really give me that outdoorsy, rustic, east-coasty feeling. I will definitely take you up on your Maine travel advise if we ever go. Thanks so much for the comments and stopping by.
